Visiting patients admitted to Mahama refugee camp health centers

Almost 60,000 refugees live in the Mahama refugee camp in Kirehe District in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. 50.2% of the camp’s population is younger than 18 years old. In Mahama refugee camp, different NGOs provide various programs and services to assist refugees, such as cash assistance of 8,500 RWF (~6.6 USD) per month for refugees classified as highly vulnerable, and 3,500 RWF (~2.7 USD) per month for moderately vulnerable people. Although this assistance is provided, it is not enough to meet the various needs of refugees, such as clothing, sufficient nutrition, and household supplies, especially in inconvenient circumstances like when they are admitted to the hospital.

For that reason, LIVE FOR OTHER INITIATIVE is visiting patients admitted to Mahama Refugee Camp Health Centers, providing nutrition supplies, hygienic supplies, and other necessities (milk, porridge flour, sugar, oil, soap, wash basins, towels, blankets). These provisions will help patients with their well-being.
